Drawing & Collage:
Budapest

After finding vintage photos at a Budapest flea market and dumpster, I began obsessively drawing on the figures the patterns of Matthias Church with the stories of Hungary swimming in my head. I was attracted to the old photos of children who I imagined had lived a lifetime in their few years. Since my Budapest artist residency, I have continued drawing on old photos, transforming the initial stories into new narratives. My drawings recreate the figures as navigators amidst an environmental mayhem, and in some cases, reactors to that chaos.
